Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan - piano, Ruth O'Shea - violin and Linda Stocks - cello) play a monthly cafe concert on the last Friday of each month (except December) at 1pm at St John's Church Hall: informal community events with a pop-up café open from c12.15pm where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes, and enjoy live music. It’s c£3.50 for a drink and a cake.
This month’s music is inspired by the traditional travelling people of Eastern Europe, with pieces including ‘Songs My Mother Taught Me’ by Dvořák, Haydn’s Gypsy Rondo, and various Dumkas and other dances.
Concerts last c45mins and entrance - or rather, exit! - is by pay-what-you-feel donation, via a retiring collection. Refreshments - tea, coffee & home-made cakes - are available in the pop-up café 45 mins before the concert. There's no need to book, just turn up early for best choice of cakes, and to be sure of a table, as the concerts are popular.
