Coming for the first time and unsure what to expect?
There will always be a friendly face to greet you as you arrive. Let us know who you are and that you are visiting us for the first time so we can make you feel welcome.
What should I wear?
Our dress code is informal.
What happens at St John’s church services?
The services usually last for just over an hour. The service consists of:
Worship - which includes singing songs of praise and thanks to God.
A sermon - which is talk given by the rector.
Praying - led by the rector.
Intersessions - Often in our worship, we are led in prayer by others which is called Intersessions. They lead us in prayer for the needs of the Church and the world, and for all who are in need.
Holy Communion - This where Christians and are given bread wafers and wine to commemorate the last supper. You are also welcome to go up to altar for a blessing.
What happens if my children make noise or are restless during the service?
At John’s Church we do have a children’s corner in the church which you are welcome to use.
You may wish to consider during the 11.00am service there is a children’s group called “Explore”
Where can I park?
There is free parking on a Sunday at Station Road Car Park behind St John’s church.
There is also free parking at Ashton Way Car Park - only a 5 minute walk to St Johns Church.
