New to St John’s Church?
Here are some questions/answers that should be helpful if attending for the first time.
What can I expect when I arrive?
At St John’s Church there will always be a friendly face to greet you as you arrive. Let us know who you are and that you are visiting us for the first time so we can make you feel welcome.
Come in and make yourself at home and choose any seat in the church (there are no ‘reserved’ seats)
Accessibility needs?
St John’s Church is fully wheelchair accessible and for those with mobility needs.
We have a “T” loop hearing system available at St John’s Church.
What happens at church services ?
The services usually lasts for just over an hour. The service consists of:
Worship - which includes singing songs of praise and thanks to God.
A sermon
Praying
Intercessions - Often in our worship, we are led in prayer by others which is called Intercessions. They lead us in prayer for the needs of the Church and the world, and for all who are in need.
Holy Communion - This where Christians are given bread wafers and wine to commemorate the last supper. However if you prefer, you are also welcome to go up to altar for a blessing.
What happens if my children make noise or are restless during the service ?
Please do not be worried about this. We do have a children’s corner in the church which you are welcome to use.
During the 11.00am service there is a children’s group called “Explore” - Please feel free to attend this if this sounds better for you.
What should I wear?
Please come in whatever you are comfortable wearing.
Where can I find the toilets ?
The toilets can be found inside the Parish Hall next to the church. As you arrive in the hall foyer turn right towards the corridor and they are immediately to your right.
You can also find a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities available too in that area.
Are refreshments available after the Sunday services?
Tea/coffee/squash/biscuits (and sometimes cake) are available after each service on Sunday and this is held in the Parish Hall next to the church.
If you wish, nominal donations are accepted.
Where can I park to attend St John’s Church?
There is free parking on a Sunday at Station Road Car Park behind St John’s church. (see map below)
NOTE: There is also free parking at Ashton Way Car Park - only a 5 minute walk to St Johns Church.
