Base Cafe.
This is an ecumenically supported and facilitated gathering for young people in school year ten and above (aged 15/16+) on the second Saturday of each month.  The church hall is transformed using lighting and posters, inflatable sofas and activities including a Nintendo Wii and table football.  Live music also plays a crucial role in these evenings.  Young people are asked for £2 entry, which goes towards the costs of hiring a band to perform.  The events are seen as an opportunity to offer young people alternative diversionary activities for a Saturday evening, and for local young bands to showcase their talent and gain performance experience.  This was part of the More to Life 08 Mission and has made contact with nearly 150 young people, 73% of whom have no previous connection with the church.  Base Cafe has been financially supported by Churches Together in Keynsham and Saltford, was part of
More to Life 08 and aims to become self sufficient by 2010. (For more information, please contact Dan Crouch, Youth Leader, ddcrouch@hotmail.com 07890569534)

2nd Base
This is a termly event that seeks to further develop and nurture relationships with the young people attending Base Cafe.  This event seeks to offer young people the opportunity to hear the gospel message.

Lee Abbey – The Beacon
A biennial Parish weekend to Lee Abbey for the whole church family has led to the purpose built youth facility (The Beacon) becoming the obvious venue for weekend residentials with the young people.  These times can be incredibly productive in terms of building relationships between the young people themselves and with youth leaders and volunteers.  These weekends also allow young people on the margins to be integrated into the group, or to simply experience life as part of a Christian group of young people.

Soul SurvivorYoung People at Soul Survivor
Since our inaugural visit to Soul Survivor in 2007, this has formed a key component of the youth ministry in Keynsham.  In 2007 11 young people attended, in 2008 that number doubled to 22 and in 2009 we already have 23 committed to attending.  The opportunity to gather together as a community of worshippers, to have fun and explore the Christian faith has proven incredibly attractive to the young people.

One-Off Events
Throughout the year, a number of one-off events occur as we try to build one into every term (at least six a year), and to acknowledge key moments in the Christian calendar.  Recent examples of these include:

Slum Survivor – where young people spent a weekend living in a slum they created to raise money and awareness of the plight of slum dwellers across the world.

Posh Meal – wYoung people at Posh Mealhere young people dress in their finest to be served a meal by the youth leaders.  They are then offered the opportunity to socialise and this builds relationships in addition to allowing the youth leaders to model service.

Laserquest/Bowling – an opportunity to simply bring friends along to a fun evening.

Paintballing - a morning/day of fun where the young people can have fun simply enjoying themselves.

PSU2 – an open gaming event with food and a talk from the local Christian speaker Philip Jinadu on becoming a Christian.

Cross Meditation – a Maundy Thursday meditation where young people were given a rough wooden cross and asked to create a personalised cross for themselves or a friend, decorating and refining it while thinking about the deeper meaning of the cross.  This was followed by a short service.
