Overview
Youth Work has grown significantly in the Keynsham Parish in the last 4 years. From an initial group of 4-5 young people a thriving and diverse ministry that regularly connects with 25+ young people and has links with many more has grown and developed. The youth group meet on a Monday evening between 7pm and 9pm. The Monday evening group draws young people from across the parish. On a Sunday morning, members of the youth group that attend St John’s meet together for ‘Discover’. On the first Saturday of each month, ‘Plus Ones Plus’ meet, encouraging young people from school year 6 to 13 to meet together and have fun, and the ecumenical Base Cafe, for young people in school year 10 and above occurs on the second Saturday of each month. The church choir also draws young people into the church body, and a number of young people have become members of the youth group from this ministry that is at the heart of St John’s Church. Preliminary links with the primary schools, particularly St John’s Primary school and both secondary schools in the town, nurtured through the More to Life 08 Year of Mission offer further opportunities for growth. Important links with statutory youth service providers have also been established and opportunities for development continue to emerge. |
