Lights Up At Littlesham
The 2011 production will be called ‘Lights Up At Littlesham’, and will be staged in the Parish Hall on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 10th, 11th, and 12th 2011, starting at 7.30pm with a 2:30pm matinee on the Saturday. Two members of the group, Owen Cole and Natalie Morton, have scripted the action and it may not be just a coincidence if the plot appears to bear some relation to recent events in Keynsham itself! The music will feature some of the greatest songs of the last half-century or more and will almost certainly be familiar to, and loved by, every member of the audience. Over the years a number of children have appeared on a stage for the first time in their lives during a Keynsham Parish Players show, and have subsequently gone on to take leading parts in later productions. This year’s cast will have several new faces, so we hope that history will be repeated in years to come.
Tickets for the show are available from the Parish Office, or from KPP members. Prices are £6 adults, £4 children, or a ‘family ticket’ for £18 to admit up to 5 in a family! Keynsham Parish Players is a lively, active, friendly group who, once a year, put on a show at Keynsham Parish Hall. During preparation for the show we meet for rehearsals in the Parish Hall every Sunday afternoon and often during the week for additional practice. We specialise in home-grown productions and having fun! Every other year we put on a pantomime production in the spring and 'in between' years, such as 2011, we work on a variety of other show styles. Recent productions have included ‘Cinderella’, ‘All Clear’, ‘Dick Whittington’, ‘The Pleasure of Your Company’, ‘Tippety’, ‘All Aboard’ and ‘Treasure Island’.
Some productions are suitable for being 'toured' elsewhere - for instance in 2007 and 2009 respectively "The Pleasure of Your Company" and "All Aboard" played to packed audiences on a Saturday evening in the Village Hall at Hilperton, near Trowbridge in Wiltshire and in May 2011, by popular demand, "Lights Up At Littlesham" is already booked to appear there as well. Enquiries about the possibility of hosting such a performance by the Keynsham Parish Players in a location within a reasonable distance of Keynsham can be made via the Parish Office (see telephone number below).
This will be the Players' twelfth production and, over the years, proceeds totalling more than £7,500, have been devoted to a number of charitable causes - hopefully, this latest show will be able to add to this amount. We always encourage new members at KPP and welcome all levels of talent and experience. We have a committed and efficient back-stage crew who are essential to achieving the standards that have come to be expected of us at KPP. If you are interested in joining us either on stage or behind the scenes, please enquire at the Parish Office for contact details. 0117 9863354.
